Group upgraded from Bronze, increasing overall score from 58 to 74

Markerstudy Group has achieved its highest ever EcoVadis rating, increasing its overall score from 58 to 74 and upgrading to Silver status. The group now belongs in the top 15% of over 150,000 organisations rated by EcoVadis, having made significant progress in 2024.

“This amazing achievement recognises the hard work carried out by teams across the business to support our sustainability agenda,” said Tom Williams, Markerstudy’s group head of sustainable business strategy. “Key factors that influenced our improved rating are the creation of new group environment and sustainable procurement policies, and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validating our targets.”

Markerstudy’s largest improvements came within the themes of Environment, where it moved from a score of 50 in 2023 to 80 last year, and Sustainable Procurement, moving from 40 to 77.

To underline its ongoing commitment to creating a sustainable future, Markerstudy has just published its 2024 Sustainability Report, revealing the substantial progress the group has made during the last year.

Among the important projects that have contributed to this positive trajectory are the organisation’s sustainable supply chain programme, which has seen 80% of Markerstudy’s suppliers sign up to its Sustainable Supply Chain Charter, and its Green Legacy Project, a new programme aimed at enhancing biodiversity in the UK, protecting nature and customers from climate change and leaving a legacy for future generations.

In addition, the SBTi approved Markerstudy’s near- and long-term greenhouse gas emission reduction targets, committing the group to reaching net zero across the value chain by 2045 from a 2022 baseline year. This is aligned with the 1.5C mitigation pathway and commended as currently the most ambitious designation available through the SBTi validation process.

Finally, the fundraising efforts of Markerstudy’s colleagues resulted in more than £300,000 being donated to charities and good causes in 2024, the organisation’s most successful year to date. Among the charities to benefit was Macmillan Cancer Support, Markerstudy’s charity of choice for the year, which received more than £50,000 in donations.
